ARE
TATTOOS SAFE?
Yes, as long as you go to a
reputable artist that is following
all recommended safety precautions.
That's why it's... SO important to make sure you go to
a shop with certified artists that
know what they're doing. Tattooing
is artistic but it's also very
medical And undergoing medical procedures
takes training and serious
precautions... so trust ONLY a REAL
artist with training in a controlled environment like a shop, not average
Joe with a homemade gun or kit

HOW DO I PICK OUT A TATTOO?
There are many ways to find a tattoo
you like. The internet is a great
option as well, with sites life www.tattoojohnny.com or www.bullseyetattoos.com, where
you can preview and print everything
your artist needs for your tattoos,
for a fee of course, and most artists will take
your purchase into account when
pricing the tattoo. After all, you
made their job a lot easier. Take a
look through all the books as well, there
are so many pieces to choose from
and our artists will also work with
you to draw your tattoo out so that
you can be sure to get a piece that
fits you and the way your body is
proportioned. Remember, we are all
artists.

HOW
BAD DO THEY HURT?
It's true that everyone has a
different threshold of pain. What
one person considers not painful at
all could be devastating to another. Some
people describe the feeling as a
"hot scratch". Some have said it was
"annoying". Most say it was not
nearly as bad as they feared. But
there is a little more than pain
alone to consider when getting a
tattoo. You may have heard honor
stories about people passing out or crying from the
intense pain. First of all, people
pass out because their blood sugar
drops from not eating or they just
allow themselves to get too worked up and
their own fear knocks them out. Pain
is usually not the culprit when
someone faints during a tattoo. As
far as crying goes, there are some that find the pain too much
to bear. These people are few and
far between - don't assume you're
going to be one of them.

BUT I'M SCARED OF NEEDLES AND
BLOOD!
If you have a fear of needles or
blood, getting a tattoo isn't going
to be easy considering that's part of getting a
tattoo. However, I would like to
point out that tattoo needles do not
enter the skin very far as many fear
-actually, it only goes in about
1/16 of an inch. Take a look at a
ruler and you'll see just how
insignificant that is. Another thing
you can do is get
your tattoo somewhere on your body
where you will not be able to watch
the work going on. This helps some
to overcome the apprehension, by not actually seeing
the needle .The needles move in an
up-and-down motion, carefully
pushing the ink just below the
surface of the skin The damage to your skin
is so minimal that many people don't
bleed at all - or very little. The
tattoo artist will also be
constantly wiping up your skin to clean off any
traces of blood, so it's done in a
very clean and professional manner.
Excessive bleeding usually only results when the patron has been
drinking alcohol or raking some kind
of blood thinner (like aspirin). So
no drinking!!!

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO HEAL MY TATTOO?
The best thing to do after your
artist bandages you up is to KEEP
THE BANDAGE ON FOR AT LEAST TWO HOURS!!!! Your
body needs to leak out all the
excess plasma and blood that would
normally form a scab. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!!! If your tattoos scabs, you are doing
something wrong. It only scabs when
its not moist and dries up. You
don't ever want the tattoo to be
dry. After the first two hours, take
the bandage off and wash it with
anti-bacterial soap only. Do it
gently -with your hand only, you don't want
to wash with a washcloth or anything
abrasive that will irritate it Gently
pat dry the tattoo with a towel soon after your body is showered,
your tattoo will dry up rapidly. So
its time to put some ointment on it. Aquaphor is the best ointment to
use. As soon as you're ready to go
to sleep, bandage your tattoo again
EVERY NIGHT for the first 3 nights
of the tattoos healing process. This will ensure that your tattoo
does not become infected by dust,
dander, your bed sheets, or anything
else that carries dirt and bacteria,
and it also
keeps it moist overnight, WHICH IS
VERY IMPORTANT!!! After the first 3
nights, you don't need to use the
bandage overnight, but it's
still important that the tattoo
remains moist at all times.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE OINTMENT?
Most places with a pharmacy carry
Aquaphor. Those places include, CVS,
Rite Aid, Giant, Walgreens, and
WalMart Its made by Eucerin, so its
normally in the lotion section of
the store. Not all stores carry it,
but ifs definitely worth
looking for. Only a small amount is
really necessary, it works so well,
as long as the tattoo is moist it's
healing. Every time you apply ointment Its always good to wash the tattoo to ensure there's no
dirt getting stuck in the tattoo. If
you are absolutely unable to find Aquaphor,
A&D OINTMENT is also ok. It doesn't
have any healing agents like
Aquaphor and takes a little more
patience, but it also works well.
